This Year-By the Number

A personal year 9 can have the following meanings for you: Death, Taking Personal Inventory, The End of an Era-The number 9 year is one of completion and marks the beginning of the ending of everything you have managed to accomplish during the last decade. This is an uncomfortable year for many individuals, especially if they are unable to embrace change. You may feel restless and things that used to interest you may be replaced by new desires. If you are not able to let go of the past willingly, a situation may manifest that forces you to change. This is the year you reap what you sow.

So I was watching Dr. Phil on Tuesday and they had a lady who does Numerology on it. So over the past couple blogs I have been showing what my birthday and name mean. Kind of cool right? I totally think my mom picked the right name for me after readying about it and I also have always known I had a cool birthday lol.

Anyways I found a site that shows by when you were born what this year will be like for you...talk about dead on! I think this will be a very big year. I am finishing my master's degree in May and I will be exiting the world of school and entering the world of work and "adult" life.

Its a weird sense of joy, excitement and also fear. It seems odd that I should be a real grown up, I feel like I have so much to learn and so much more to do before I am an adult. Life doesn't just start a new chapter and stop an old one. Its more of a book where the chapters flow into each other and never ends. I guess we will all see, as always I will keep you all posted.

Weight Wars

I got home from my daily running around a bit earlier than normal today. Normally I am not a fan of many of the daytime talk shows. However I found myself being sucked into Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil’s shows today. Oddly enough both shows dealt with weight problems.
I am the queen of Yo-Yo weight, I can remember a time when I use to be able to eat whatever I wanted. However that time has long since passed and weight has be a struggle every since. Weight however I must say isn’t the core issue. Like most women much of how I view myself and feel about myself is wrapped up in how I look. I am not someone who believes that how we look shouldn’t or doesn’t matter.
Does that shock you? First anyone who tries to say they have never judged someone by how they look is lying. Imagine you are sick, very sick and need to go into the OR right away. The hospital tells you there are two doctors that can operate on you; you are given a chance to say hi to both however you are far too weak to say anything more and cannot interview them.  They both walk in one is in a suit, with his hair cut and smiling, the other is in a t-shirt and jeans and hands are dirty, he isn’t smiling and hasn’t shaved. Who would you pick?
I do believe imagine is important and I also think that healthy weight is so important to have a healthy lifestyle. So now back to me, I have always have issues with my body and how I look. Growing up, I went through my ugly duckling phase and once I started to grow out of it...I also started to gain weight.
I definitely don’t have all the answers or know everything there is about staying healthy. Like I said, I am the Queen of Yo-Yo. What I do know is that you have to start by loving yourself no matter where you are; you have to love yourself enough to want the change.  Looking over my years of up and down, up and down, times when I go up are the times when I don’t put myself first, or I let internal and external dialogue effect me. This is why I say weight for me in only the outward manifestation of the internal issues.
Like so many people, part of my new year’s resolution deals with weight. So welcome to 2012 and welcome to following my journey. It’s not all about weight but it is about finding out who I am at this point in my life. This year will have a lot of milestones, graduation, 25th birthday, more than one promotion in my personal business. Most important about this year, taking steps to becoming the new, improved Victoria

Year in Review

AJ and Vicky’s Year in Review
That’s right, this year AJ and myself have joined forces to bring you our year in review. If there was a word to describe this year it might be CATS. We started the year off by welcoming Topcat into our lives and by April he was joined by Baby, they are happily settled into their ownership of us and make sure things run smoothly at the apartment. Baby has taken to making sure that we are up daily by 6:30am, sometimes she is nice on the weekends at lets us sleep till 8. Topcat has made it his job to stand watch at our front window and make sure no one weird comes into the apartment building.
Another word we could use to describe the past year would be FOOTBALL, or as most American’s call it, Soccer. Our household is truly filled with soccer every day. On any given day AJ can be leaving or coming back from one of his four games depending on the season, the cats have taken to making sure his stinky socks move around the whole apartment. We could also be talking about our 2014 trip to Brazil to watch the World Cup or getting ready for a Premier League game at our favorite Irish Pub Mage Pies (Go Arsenal!). AJ this past year traveled with the Rochester Chapter of the American Outlaws to watch the USA vs. Mexico friendly game and he came back to tell about it.
We are also please to let everyone know that all the members of my family under 4 feet, or as I collectively call them the Babies, know that AJ’s name is really AJ and not CJ as they thought last Christmas J. He has taken to spreading is love of soccer to them near and far. He also survived is first trip to New Jersey and is hopefully that my newest baby cousin Luca will be the next great USA player and that possible Dylan will be the next great goalie.
A word that has for many years described me was PAGEANTS, sadly April marked my 24th birthday and the end of my eligibility in the Miss America System.  I have so many wonderful experiences throughout my years in the system and truly meet so the greatest girls and volunteers ever. I competed again in October in the Miss New York International Pageant and was so happy to be able to be there to support a good friend of mine as she gave up her crown. I am also happy to announce that while I am not competing anymore I have accepted a board position with the Miss Greater Rochester Scholarship Program, which was my first pageant even in the Miss America System I will be serving as their Public Relations Chair.
BIRTHDAY was something else we celebrated a lot of this past year. We celebrated my father’s 80th Birthday. AJ also celebrated his last birthday in his 20s, he celebrated it in fine fashion along with St. Patrick’s Day in March. I participated in Relay for Life this year, helping to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s campaign for more birthdays. I celebrated my birthday this past year the Zonta’s Annual Lucky Numbers Luncheon, the first one I have attended as a member of Zonta International.
Those words really bring to focus a lot of what we have done over the past year….now on to 2012! Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year we hope this letter fines you happy and healthy.
Love,
AJ, Vicky, Topcat and Baby
